How To Stop Distractions During Meditation

I often fall into the trap of yearning for life to be different in order to find happiness. Whether it be, ‘when the kids have grown up, or are past ‘this stage or that stage’ then I’ll be happy, or when I move house, or when I change jobs, or when I earn more money, or when I do this that or the other.
A lot of energy can be used up by yearning, feeling sorrow, or desperation for things to be different.
Happiness feels out of reach until something often unreachable in the foreseeable future is attained.
It is just that society has us believe that we need to attain certain belongings, or a certain lifestyle in order to feel happiness.
While those ideals might bring a certain happiness to life, they certainly are not needed in order to feel happiness.
When I open my heart space in meditation I have learnt to ask myself – who am I when my heart is open?
In that space, I am within an ocean of awareness, a place of where my being feels it belongs.
It is in this space, only a natural tenderness and compassion exists.
Being present, in the moment where my heart is open and filled with loving-kindness is beyond any worldly happiness.
In this space – ask yourself “what do you want me to know”.
I Wait… I Breath… I focus on how great the love is … Drawing in from the Divine… And breathing it out to my loved ones, to my clients who come to me… And to the world.
I’m not saying don’t have goals.
One of the lesson’s I learnt from my cancer journey was that I wanted to have more experiences and memories.
I want to see those I love dearly more often, I want to see more of this incredible planet, and I want to share memories with special people in my life. This has become so important to me.
I still have ongoing plans and lists and more lists of places I want to see!
However, happiness does not wait for these things to happen – happiness comes from the moment by moment experiences of a mindful intention to full my heart centre with loving kindness.
